Las áreas de lengua, inglés, latín, biología, física y química, sociales, educación física y artes escénicas se unen para pasar una noche mágica.

NIGHT OF STARS AND MYTHS
The subjects of language, English, Latin, biology, physics and chemistry, social science, physical education and performing arts come together to spend a magical night.
Nuestro proyecto ERASMUS PLUS STEPS, se centra en el TURISMO SOSTENIBLE y uno de los grandes objetivos es hacer una guía turística divertida para los jóvenes en el entorno de las ciudades implicadas en el proyecto: Utrera (España) y Soest (Alemania). Investigamos posibles destinos turísticos interesantes que promuevan el valor educativo, cultural y científico, así como lo lúdico y deportivo.
En esta ocasión estamos especialmente interesados en el ASTROTURISMO. El buen clima de los cielos andaluces se combina con la ciencia, la mitología, la naturaleza y el deporte, como el senderismo, añadiendo el misterio de la noche, tan atractivo para los adolescentes. Además, ofrece la posibilidad de realizar actividades al aire libre, respetando las recomendaciones de las autoridades sanitarias con respecto a la COVID-19.
En nuestro proyecto hemos aprendido a convertir un recurso turístico en un recurso educativo que engloba distintas áreas:

Al final de curso, con buen tiempo, en una noche en la que la luna se ponía pronto y no teníamos exámenes, preparamos nuestras mochilas y sacos de dormir. Nos aventuramos en la VÍA VERDE DE LA SIERRA (entre los términos de Olvera y Coripe) e hicimos un TALLER DE ASTRONOMÍA. Aprendimos sobre el universo, las estrellas, constelaciones, galaxias y nebulosas. Están tan lejos que en realidad estamos viendo el pasado. ¿Sabes que la luz que vemos del Sol se emitió hace 8 minutos? ¿Y que el objeto más lejano que podemos ver a simple vista es la Galaxia de Andrómeda? ¡¡La vemos como era hace 2 millones de años!!
Mirar el cuadro de LA ESCUELA DE ATENAS también puede ser como mirar el pasado, como mirar una foto de hace más de 500 años. Ese cuadro de Rafael es un fresco que decora la biblioteca del Papa Julio II, en el Palacio Apostólico en El Vaticano. Pero también está en el vestíbulo de nuestro instituto, al que llamamos del Renacimiento. Aquí el alumnado de Artes Escénicas hace una de sus representaciones teatrales sobre LOS ASTRÓNOMOS Y ASTRÓNOMAS DE LA ANTIGÜEDAD.
Aprovechamos para hacer SENDERISMO, pasando por los túneles de un antiguo trazado de tren. El camino era largo e hizo mucho calor, pero afortunadamente tuvimos una ayuda inesperada: nos cruzamos con LA ALCALDESA DE CORIPE, que se ofreció a llevar todas las mochilas y sacos en una pickup rural hasta nuestro destino. ¡Qué suerte! ¡Qué amable!
Vimos una enorme encina centenaria, EL CHAPARRO DE LA VEGA, que nuestros compañeros usaron de escenario improvisado para representar la obra de ADÁN Y EVA. ¡Qué divertido!
También vimos BUITRES LEONADOS y aprendimos sobre la colonia protegida en el Centro de Interpretación del PEÑÓN DE ZAFRAMAGÓN.
En nuestra noche de estrellas algun@s compañer@s nos contaron MITOS y leyendas que han leído en clase de Latín, en clase de Refuerzo de Lengua o como voluntarios guías de nuestro museo, porque las paredes de nuestro instituto están llenas de historias preciosas.
Un experto en SATÉLITES ARTIFICIALES nos habló sobre el tema de la BASURA ESPACIAL. Y al amanecer pudimos contemplar la conjunción de cuatro planetas: Venus, Martes, Júpiter y Saturno ¡¡Espectacular!!
Fue genial. Era la primera vez que pasamos la noche al aire libre con l@s compañer@. Apenas dormimos, pero mereció la pena. Fue muy divertido y pudimos aprender muchas cosas fuera de las aulas. Sentimos que el arte y la ciencia van de la mano. Además, estamos muy orgullosos con nuestros diplomas. Ha sido una experiencia inolvidable.
Agradecemos a Charo, Antonio, Manuel y Christian de la ASOCIACIÓN ESPAÑOLA DE ASTRONOMÍA VÍA VERDE DE LA SIERRA, la colaboración y el cariño puesto en esta actividad, así como su labor en la divulgación científica y la protección de la calidad de los cielos andaluces, fomentando las RESERVAS STAR LIGHT.
También le damos las gracias a Luís Mejías, que nos entusiasmó a todos con su charla sobre SATÉLITES y BASURA ESPACIAL; a las PROFESORAS Consolación Sánchez, Natalia García y Lucía Nieto que han sabido combinar ciencia, mitología, naturaleza, inglés y teatro y se han atrevido a pasar la noche con sus alumn@s en el campo bajo las estrellas; y por supuesto, a nuestro ALUMNADO, que siempre está dispuesto a prestarse voluntario para cualquier actividad.
Y esta, sin duda, se ha convertido en una “actividad estrella”.
Our ERASMUS PLUS project STEPS focuses on SUSTAINABLE TOURISM and one of the main objectives is to make a fun tourist guide for young people in the surroundings of the cities involved in the project: Utrera (Spain) and Soest (Germany). We investigate possible interesting tourist destinations that promotes both educational, cultural, and scientific issues with leisure and sports.
On this occasion we are especially interested in ASTROTOURISM. The mild weather of the Andalusian skies is combined with science, mythology, nature, and sports, such as hiking. We add the mystery of the night, which is so attractive to teenagers. In addition, it offers the possibility of carrying out outdoor activities, respecting the recommendations of the health authorities regarding COVID-19.
In our project we have learned to turn a touristic resource into an educational tool, which includes different areas:

At the end of the school year, in a warm night when the moon set soon, we took our backpacks and sleeping bags, we set off into the VIA VERDE DE LA SIERRA (between the towns of Olvera and Coripe) and we took part in an ASTRONOMY WORKSHOP. We learned about the universe, the stars, constellations, galaxies and nebulae. They are so far away that we are really looking at the past. Did you know that the light we see from the Sun was emitted 8 minutes ago? And that the farthest object that we can see with the naked eye is the Andromeda Galaxy? We see it as it was 2 million years ago!!
Looking at the painting of THE SCHOOL OF ATHENS can also be like looking at the past. It is like looking at a picture taken more than 500 years ago. That painting by Raphael is a fresco that decorates the library of Pope Julius II, in the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican. But it’s also in our school hall, which we call the Renaissance Hall. Here, the students of Performing Arts make one of their theatrical performances about ANCIENT MALE AND FEMANE ASTRONOMERS AND SCIENTISTS.
We took the opportunity to go HIKING, walking through the tunnels of an old train route. The road was long, and it was very hot, but fortunately we had an unexpected help: we came across THE MAYOR OF CORIPE, who offered to carry all our backpacks and bags in a rural pickup truck to our destination. Lucky we! How nice and helpful!
We saw a huge 200-year-old oak tree, EL CHAPARRO DE LA VEGA, which our colleagues used as an improvised stage to perform the play of ADAM Y EVE. What fun!
We also saw VULTURES and learned about the preserved colony of these birds of prey at the PEÑÓN DE ZAFRAMAGÓN Interpretation Center.
In our night of stars, some classmates told us MYTHS and legends that they have read in Latin class, in Language Reinforcement class or as volunteer guides of our museum, because the walls of our school are full of beautiful stories.
An expert in ARTIFICIAL SATELLITES gave us a speech about the issue of SPACE DEBRIS. And at dawn we were able to see the conjunction of four planets: Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn. Spectacular!
It was great. It is the first time that we spent the night outdoors with our school mates. We hardly slept, but it was worthy. It was a lot of fun, and we were able to learn a lot of things outside of the classroom. We could fell that art and science go hand in hand. In addition, we are very proud with our diplomas. It has been an unforgettable experience.
We thank Charo, Antonio, Manuel and Christian from the SPANISH ASSOCIATION OF ASTRONOMY VÍA VERDE DE LA SIERRA, for the collaboration and affection put into this activity, as well as their work in scientific dissemination and the protection of the quality of the Andalusian skies, by promoting STAR LIGHT RESERVATIONS.
We also thank Luís Mejías, a Radar S3T-SR supervisor, who hooked us all with his talk on SATELLITES and SPACE TRASH; to TEACHERS Consolación Sánchez, Natalia García and Lucía Nieto who have been able to combine science, mythology, nature, English and theater, and have dared to spend the night out with their students in the countryside beneath the stars; and of course, to our STUDENTS, who are always willing to volunteer for any activity.
Without any doubt, this one has become a “star project”
