El IES José María Infantes de Utrera acoge a Yanelli Schmitt
Yanelli Schmitt, una alumna de Klasse 11 del Archigymnasium de Soest (Alemnia) viajó a España durante el primer trimestre de 2024 para descubrir su lengua y su cultura. Se adaptó a la vida en la escuela con facilidad y disfrutó de la hospitalidad de dos familias maravillosas. Fue un viaje fascinante, desde el aprendizaje del español hasta la creación de lazos que cruzan fronteras
Vida Escolar en España: Clases, Proyectos y Retos Académicos
Yanelli se integró en la clase de 4º DE ESO. Su horario incluía asignaturas tan variadas como Latín, Inglés, Historia, Matemáticas Economía, Expresión Artística o Educación Física.
Participó en todas las actividades como una alumna más del grupo. Sus profesores quedaron impresionados con su capacidad para analizar y argumentar, mostrando un nivel avanzado de pensamiento crítico y un estilo argumentativo riguroso. En Historia sobresalió en temas tan complejos como Antiguo Régimen, el Absolutismo y la Unificación Alemana; en Latín destacó por su rendimiento y actuó en la obra de teatro Requiem. Entierro de Eduardo el Confesor; en Expresión Artística colaboró en la realización de un mosaico; en Artes Escénicas tuvo la oportunidad de improvisar y de ensayar la obra Julio César. Estas experiencias artísticas le permitieron explorar su creatividad y fortalecer sus competencias sociales.
Yanelli demostró su disposición para para aprender y mejorar y evidenció grandes habilidades para el trabajo en equipo y una actitud abierta y respetuosa hacia sus compañeros y profesores. No solo se integró en el grupo-clase, sino que también se convirtió en un puente entre culturas
Escuela-Museo: Aprender y Crear Para el Futuro
El IES José María Infantes es una Escuela-Museo: un centro educativo con más de 200 obras de artes realizadas por el alumnado, que abre sus puertas al público en horario escolar y ofrece tours guiados para público de todas las edades. Yanelli hizo una contribución muy especial: una AUDIOGUÍA EN ALEMÁN de las zonas más importantes de la EscuelaMuseo, incluyendo espacios como el Vestíbulo del Renacimiento, los Desnudos en el arte o el Aula del Expresionismo Alemán.
Yanelli mostró una impresionante capacidad para trabajar de manera autónoma, investigar, sintetizar información: tradujo textos, seleccionó información con sensibilidad, grabó audios, tomó fotografías y creó su propia página web.
Este proyecto ejemplificó cómo la educación puede fusionar creatividad, tecnología y cultura. Yanelli no sólo desarrolló habilidades digitales y artísticas, sino que contribuyó a un legado que permitirá a futuros estudiantes alemanes explorar el instituto de forma accesible.
Multilingüismo
El aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras es una herramienta muy valiosa en este mundo globalizado. Su estancia de dos meses en Utrera fue una gran oportunidad para practicar español. Su fluidez en inglés fue de gran ayuda para todos. Como nativa alemana participó en nuestro reto de trabalenguas durante el Día Europeo de las Lenguas y ayudó a los y las estudiantes de Cultura Europea a practicar alemán para la recibir al instituto sGail Halvorsen Schule de Berlín.
Interculturalidad: Familias y Amigos
A nivel intercultural, Yanelli se adentró en la cultura española no solo desde el aula, sino también viviendo con varias FAMILIAS LOCALES. Esta experiencia fue esencial para su desarrollo personal y le permitió entender las costumbres y la mentalidad de las familias de Andalucía. Participó en la vida diaria y eventos, hizo deporte y visitó lugares emblemáticos como la Alhambra en Granada, la Giralda en Sevilla y las playas de Cádiz. Todo ello le dio una perspectiva única sobre el paisaje y la historia de Andalucía.
Por supuesto, también hubo tiempo para disfrutar con AMIGOS y compañeros del instituto, lo que permitió que Yanelli forjara amistades que probablemente duren toda la vida. Participó en actividades culturales como eventos de flamenco, fiestas de cumpleaños o visitas a museos, como el de Las Ilusiones, en Sevilla. Estas actividades le ayudaron a estrechar lazos y sentirse parte de la comunidad.
Un Futuro Prometedor
La estancia de Yanelli en el IES José María Infantes fue una experiencia única para todos. Sus logros son el reflejo de un esfuerzo constante, una mente abierta y un espíritu curioso, que le darán herramientas para su futuro como ciudadana del mundo.

José María Infantes School in Utrera welcomes Yanelli Schmitt.
Yanelli Schmitt, a student of Klasse 11 at Archigymnasium Soest (Germany) spent the first trimester of 2024 at José María Infantes. She traveled to immerse herself in Spanish language and culture, quickly adapting to school life and enjoying the warm hospitality of two wonderful host families. It was a fascinating journey, blending language learning with the creation of cross-border connections.
School Life in Spain: Classes, Projects, and Academic Challenges
Yanelli joined the 4th year of ESO (Spanish secondary education). Her schedule included a variety of subjects such as Latin, English, History, Mathematics, Economics, Artistic Expression, and Physical Education.
She participated in all activities as a full member of the group, impressing her teachers with her analytical and argumentative skills, displaying an advanced level of critical thinking and a rigorous argumentative style. In History, she excelled in complex topics like the Ancient Regime, Absolutism, and the German Unification; in Latin, her performance stood out, and she acted in the play Requiem: The Burial of Edward the Confessor. In Artistic Expression, she contributed to creating a mosaic, while in Performing Arts, she had opportunities to improvise and rehearse Julius Caesar. These artistic experiences allowed her to explore her creativity and enhance her social skills.
Yanelli exhibited a strong willingness to learn and improve, demonstrating excellent teamwork abilities and an open and respectful attitude towards her classmates and teachers. Not only did she integrate into the class group, but she also became a bridge between cultures.
Museum-School: Learning and Creating for the Future
José María Infantes School is a Museum-School—a unique educational center showcasing over 200 artworks created by students. It opens to the public during school hours and offers guided tours for visitors of all ages. Yanelli made a significant contribution by creating a GERMAN AUDIO GUIDE for the most important sections of the Museum-School, including spaces like the Renaissance Lobby, Nudes in Art, and the German Expressionism Classroom.
She demonstrated impressive autonomy, research skills, and the ability to synthesize information. She translated texts, carefully selected relevant content, recorded audio guides, took photographs, and created her own website.
This project clearly exemplified how education can blend creativity, technology, and culture. Yanelli not only developed digital and artistic skills but also left a long-lasting legacy that will enable future German students to explore the school in a unique and accessible way.
Multilingualism
Learning foreign languages is a vital tool in today’s globalized world. Yanelli’s two-month stay in Utrera provided her with a fantastic opportunity to practice Spanish. Her fluency in English was also a great asset for everyone. As a native German speaker, she participated in the tongue-twister challenge during European Language Day and helped European Culture students practice German in preparation for the visit of the sGail Halvorsen Schule from Berlin.
Intercultural Connections: Families and Friends
On an intercultural level, Yanelli delved into Spanish culture not only through the classroom but also by living with LOCAL FAMILIES. This experience was essential for her personal development, allowing her to understand Andalusian customs and mindsets. She took part in daily life, family events, sports, hiking, and visited iconic places such as the Alhambra in Granada, the Giralda in Seville, and the beaches of Cádiz. These experiences gave her a unique perspective on Andalusia’s landscape and history.
There was also plenty of time to enjoy with FRIENDS and classmates, helping Yanelli build lifelong friendships. She participated in cultural activities like flamenco events, birthday celebrations, and museum visits, such as the Museum of Illusions in Seville.
These experiences helped her strengthen bonds and feel like a part of the community.
A Promising Future
Yanelli’s stay at the José María Infantes School was a unique experience for everyone involved. Her achievements reflect her constant effort, open mind, and curious spirit, which equip her with tools for her future as a global citizen.
